Built in the 19th Century the Hotel Majestic is furnished in style and comfort. It has a reputation for a friendly, homely atmosphere with excellant home cooked food. Our Restaurant seats fifty in comfort. We have forty-one bedrooms made up of single, twin,double and family rooms. ***Opened on 22nd September 2007*** The Duke of Edinburgh Hotel has been re-designed, re-built and re-invented over a twelve month period to create a beautifully styled, boutique hotel. Offering 18 en-suite, contemporary rooms with double and twin beds, this hotel takes accommodation levels to a new height in Barrow. Each room includes designer bathrooms, twin or super king size double beds, flat screen digital televisions, bespoke art work and luxury fittings. This is not a typical B&B establishment but a contemporary inn designed to offer exceptional comfort at a reasonable price. All prices include full a la carte breakfast offering a choice of eggs, varieties of bacon and style of sausage - all our breakfasts are individually prepared and cooked to order. We accept all credit/debit cards including American Express. Please be aware that due to the architectural constraints of this listed building we do not have a lift, however staff will be more than happy to assist our guests with their luggage.
Set in 14 acres of private gardens and woodland this Sir Edwin Lutyens building is just 25 minutes drive from Lake Windermere. The hotel is very popular with locals for the excellent cuisine in the Abbey Restaurant or bar snacks that are available in the cosy bar.
