The Queens Head is an historic 17th century coaching inn, situated in the Troutbeck Valley.Throughout the inn are solid oak beams, stone flag flors and heartwarming log fires by which you can enjoy a deserved drink, ordered from the bar which was once an Elizabethan four-poster bed from a room in Appleby Castle. Hotel guests home comforts are very much of this century. The bedrooms are tastefully furnished with en-suite bathrooms, colour televison and tea and coffee making facilities.
At the edge of the Lake District, this family-run hotel combines 19th century oak-beamed charm with 21st century amenities, and offers the ideal base for exploring the Lake District. Barrow-in-Furness is just 15 minutes from the Lake District, is close to South Lakes Wildlife Park (the top tourist destination in the Lake District), Furness Abbey, Piel Island and other tourist attractions. And, as the ‘indoor centre for the Lakes’, there’s plenty to do if you’re unlucky with the weather. If you want to go out in the evening, you will find a multiplex cinema, a bowling alley and numerous restaurants within a few minutes’ walk. The hotel itself has 17 en suite, well-appointed bedrooms. Each room has a flat-screen TV with around 150 channels and Wi-Fi internet access.
